THE GUESTLIST knows that while each of us is here for a limited amount of time, our impacts are not. Both our actions and inactions have further-reaching effects than we know. It is therefore our responsibility, as proactive and participating guests on our earth, to ensure that our impacts progressively improve. Collaboration is the future - sustained, real improvement only becomes attainable when working outside of competition.
What has unfortunately become a normative practice in recent times is that clothing is manufactured, worn and then discarded. This has to change. THE GUESTLIST acknowledges this fact - for, without acknowledgment of what it involves in its entirety, there can be no effective action towards what should be. This is why we have begun the transformative journey towards change.
THE GUESTLIST, therefore, dedicates itself to creating the future of consciously-made, timeless, slow fashion products - which can become heritage-pieces, passed on between generations. We aim to path the way towards a more circular future; while understanding that true sustainability is an ever-developing journey and can never be considered a final destination.
By approaching fashion with integrity - both in high quality and in ethos - we are well aware that there are multiple possible ways that our approach can be improved from where it currently is. Yet, while this road is long, we are proud of the headway that has already been made. In the creation of this path, only the initial steps have been taken since our establishment in November, 2019.
Our main activity thus far has been to establish the Cashmere Spa, allowing circularity to be put into actionable practice. Offering the opportunity for garments to be revived and rejuvenated, pieces made from 70%+ natural fibers can be sent to our manufactory where they are pampered, bringing them as close as possible to the very first time you fell in love with them.
Moving away from a couture model of overriding collections, THE GUESTLIST’s pieces do not subscribe to trends or seasons, as the fashion industry has built itself upon.
Rather, they establish their own relationship within your style that stands the test of time and transcends generations. Indeed their quality is such that the pieces are made to become cherished heirlooms - attesting to timeless generational adoration. They are created on a made-to-order basis in our manufactory in Mühlhausen. Here, comfortable working conditions are provided to our highly skilled team, many of whom have become the breadwinners of their families. We ensure that fair working hours are reimbursed for above-average pay. Full ownership is maintained over any unused yarns and recycling efforts are undertaken in this regard. Furthermore, pieces from these timeless collections may be integrated into any wardrobe. This offers you a selection of pieces that are easily paired together for an ideal capsule wardrobe that can be cherished and worn for years to come.
